SETTLING INTO A ROUTINE

With my first full week of classes come and gone I’m finally starting to feel more comfortable in my new home. It still feels odd to think that I’m actually living in Copenhagen, especially after so many months of planning for it. But to be honest, I don’t think that feeling will ever fully fade.

My class schedule is the same each day, two back to back classes from 10:05 - 1:00. I honestly love that my days end early so that I have time to explore the city and do my work before going back home.

So far I absolutely love my classes and my professors. Coming from a small liberal arts school I’m used to having discussion-based classes, so my classes at DIS haven’t been a huge shock. Most days we discuss our reading and take a few notes as well as do some group work.

I've especially enjoyed my Danish class. I wasn't originally planning on taking it, but I'm so grateful I decided to. Not only have I learned some Danis, but we've also had some really interesting discussions about Danish culture, which have helped me feel more involved in the culture.

One of the nights this week my flatmates and I decided to make tacos. It was really fun to spend time together and make a family dinner! I love living in an apartment because we have the independence of our own space as well as the company of other students going through similar experiences.

Friday a few of my friends and I went up to the round tower after class which is just a short walk from DIS. It was really cool to see Copenhagen from above, but I definitely want to go back on a clear day.

This weekend I’ve mostly chosen to relax. I think study abroad is the perfect time to get out and explore, but I’m also trying to keep in mind that I’m living here and not just traveling here. Because of this, I think it’s important to take some time for myself to rest.

Hej Hej for now!
